Improve Your Personality Qualities

Nature

One of the major personality qualities can be summarized under the word nature. When a person is said to be of good nature, it means they are friendly, tolerant, kind, understanding, etc. Having a good nature is not a task that can be done overnight. It calls for a steady dosage of good thoughts to feed your mind.

Even though your upbringing and thought processes determine  your nature, there is every possibility of changing yourself for the better if you are determined enough. Read up some good books, watch great movies, talk to people who inspire you, think and analyze as well as form your own beliefs and principles.

Disposition

Everyone likes a person with personality qualities that is calm and cool. Try and mold your thoughts to look for the good in people. Try and think positive all the time. Make this a conscious effort. If you feel like a situation is getting out of hand, take a few deep breaths and find out what can be done about it.

Staying calm at all times may be difficult. However, knowing that losing your temper can do more harm than good will help at those times. Be humble and grateful for all that you have. Being friendly is easy once you strive to listen and understand. People appreciate the personality qualities of being genuinely interested in the problems of others. Pay close attention to their body language. Learn to observe them to understand about what they are actually trying to say. Remember their names and other details by repeating it in your mind or using it in your conversation. Be polite and state your own viewpoint.

Make sure you meet all kinds of people. Enhancing your people skills requires you to be tolerant and unbiased. Try and hear what the other person has to say before making a judgment. Make good on your promises of calling back or meeting up to add to your personality qualities.

Be At Peace

Try and channelize your negative thoughts and emotions. Talk to a friend or family member. Go on a walk to sort out your thoughts. Take a kickboxing class or do some such activity that helps you vent your frustration. When you are at peace with yourself, only then can others feel good when they meet you.

In order to know where you are and where you are going in life, make a list of all the things that you hold important. When you get your priorities straight, you can find out what your real motivation is behind all the things that need to be done. Spend some time doing something you love or are passionate about. This will help you feel more contented.

Inspiration and Optimism

Optimism can be cultivated by trying to find something good in bad situations. It is difficult at times and sometimes impossible. Learn to spend all your energy on being positive and filling all your moments with action that draws you closer to your goal. If you are confused about something, feel free to discuss it with someone you trust.

Inspiring others and pushing them towards their goals calls for some severe dedication and being someone who is awe-inspiring. People will be motivated when they see you making the best of what you have. Acknowledge everyone for their uniqueness and individuality. Trust them and ask them to embrace their traits that set them apart.

Improving your personality qualities is a long term process and it calls for constant investment in your growth and development. Welcome new ideas, concepts, knowledge, etc to grow on an intellectual and spiritual level. Personality qualities define and make you, and if you are determined to change what you do not like about yourself, you can definitely do it.

Personality traits, also known as character, are ways of thinking, actions and fundamental beliefs that either add or deduct the happiness level we experience in life. Having a character though is not the basic characteristic to be happy but it is still an essential component to live life to its fullest.

Character Matters

Who we are and what we believe in, makes a difference. How we treat others matters. Decency or lack of it and what feels our minds and hearts matters. Our values portray our beliefs and how we live life makes a difference to our happiness. Sometimes, the personality traits we develop over time have little consequence to the feelings about who we are.

Looking in the mirror, it is the character or its lack that speaks volume. For happiness, not all character traits are equal, the following personality traits I believe have the greatest impact on how an individual can maximize their happiness.

Top 5 Personality Traits

1. Courage

Fear steals happiness. It robs us the ability, commitment and resolve to endure any experience to its end. Courage is fear’s great nemesis. It challenges and pushes the fear back, by keeping it in check while taking steps to fulfill its objection.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear. -Mark Twain

Courage challenges our comfort zones to approach situations and people, to embrace life and accept pain as an inevitable life challenge. Without courage, happiness is an illusion or a temporary mirage that dissipates into thin air the moment any challenge surfaces.

2. Patience

How often do impatient people experience happiness? The answer is probably “not very”. Impatience is a bully to happiness.

Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting; it means to keep the determination when the going is hard and slow – that is patience.

Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones; as you accomplish your daily task, sleep in peace and know that God is in control. -Victor Hugo

Impatience is one of the negative personality traits that irritate us to lose control. The more we attempt to control or manipulate life’s outcome and events with a form of precision the more the efforts seem frustrated.

Learn to accept the unpredictable and uncertain in your personality traits. Breathe and relax. Let life happen. Be patient, at least a little. You, ll find it less stressful and become more happy when you do.

3. Gratitude

Being grateful requires retraining the mind to notice the good amidst the bad. Count your blessings and recognize life’s beauty even when it is not going as expected.

For gratitude to affect happiness, it requires a personal permitting of your soul to embrace life positively. Grateful people do notice challenges, but they focus on the benefits the challenge provide and opportunities available.

I believe that, developing a persistent and grateful attitude is one key source of happiness.

4. Love

Love conquers all, well said and put. The more love beats in your heart, the more buoyant and happy you will love life, and it will love you back.

Love overlooks weaknesses, It accepts and seeks the best in others. This is one better path to happiness.

5. Forgiveness

Freeing oneself from pain by embracing a forgiving spirit is key to letting go of past hurts.

To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, one receives untold peace and happiness. -Robert Muller

Open your heart to forgiveness, and in turn the heart will as well be open enough to catch its own share of happiness.

We have the knowledge to know what traits to nurture. The beauty of life is that we can learn, change, grow and develop. All it takes is the determination to make it happen. What better way to start than to add the above personality traits to your character.

Studies made on the physical performance of the elderly from ages 55 to 70 revealed that patients with low self efficacy experienced more chronic pain than the average individual. The physical performance indices relate to tests of strength, mobility, and dexterity.

In general, the elderly tend to be more vulnerable to adverse health conditions such as elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes, and lung ailments. These apparent dangers and risks in chronic pain management need to be monitored closely as one gets older.

Chronic pain gets in the way of normal living. In most instances, you become battered beyond relief; therefore, would become afraid of facing it again tomorrow. When this happens, your belief about yourself will be at its lowest ebb. Your family and social life eventually suffer and this may lead to an emotional breakdown after some time.

Psychologist Albert Baldura coined the term low self efficacy to refer to non-belief in a person’s inherent capability to do certain skills or attain certain goals at some point of his/or her life.

There are several coping mechanisms that you can try to get out of the rut. Here are a few ideas to get you up and running again:

1. Try Something New And Different
For example if you find it hard exercising your left foot due to the onset of arthritis, try kicking it forward a few times. The next time around, you might want to do a count: 50, 100′s, 200′s and so on and so forth. Improving on the numbers would make you desire more success in the future.

2. Be Specific On What You Want To Achieve
If you want to feel young and go biking again, then there is a need for you to come up with a specific plan on how to go about it. First, is you have to do leg exercises; second will be to practice on your balancing skills, and; third would be the bike that you will use to help you in this endeavor. Remember to record your achievements such as how far you have gone each day. By tracking on your progress, you will be buoyed by the success that you achieve every day.

3. Set Achievable Goals
Without proper training and medical supervision, an elderly person who immediately tries to bike a 50 mile course may do some serious damage to you body including possible death. You will fail if you set your goals too high. However, if you attempt to go biking from one end of your house to the next, with a meager 50 feet, is not going to do you any good either. It will be too easy, and you will not experience any sense of achievement doing that. Do something achievable for somebody your age: not too hard or easy either way.

4. Set Goals That Can Be Accomplished Immediately
Setting goals too big or far into the future may lead to disappointments in your self efficacy. If biking is your desire, set short biking goals of a few minutes for only 30 minutes each day. Immediately going through a two-hour spinning class may lead to outright failure and a possible heart attack. Achieving smaller short-ranged goals quickly turned into larger ones.

5. Assess Your Diet
Look at your diet as part of your pain management routine. as Plenty of pain issues may result in what you eat. Plus, eating well will give you more energy for you to tackle all of your goals.

With a strong coping mechanism and a positive outlook on life, you will have higher self efficacy, and lead to a richer and fulfilling life.

A vacation is a great way to relax and recharge your tired cells but eating healthy snacks en route is as important as enjoying the journey itself. We all understand that while taking a vacation our regular exercise routine and eating habits takes a hit. This can lead to sudden weight gain, bloating, and digestive problems in the future.

If you binge on snacks that are healthy, you will get the required nutrients and prevent any sort of stomach or other ailments.

Here are my top 5 healthy snacks that I recommended during travel.

1. Dried Fruit
Dried fruits are an easy option when you are traveling by road as they occupy less space than the actual fruits. Since they are loaded with sugar it is advisable that you eat only as much dried fruit as you would have eaten the fresh. Say for instance, if you are thinking of having raisins then calculate how much grapes you would have eaten at one go.

2. Seaweed Snacks
Seaweed is a highly nutritious food as it full of vitamins and essential minerals. The dried seaweed is light in weight and very easy to carry. While traveling it is very hard to get a steady supply of nutritious food; so seaweed snacks makes sure your body gets all that it needs.

3. Kale Chips
You are never supposed to include any vegetable among travel snacks as they perish very fast. However, Kale chips are different as it requires no refrigeration and is considered to be an excellent source of vegetable nutrition. The Kale Chips are available in a wide variety of flavors and they are very easy to carry also because of their light weight. Kale is also known to reduce bloating.

4. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
The seeds of the pumpkin, also known as pepitas, is enriched with protein, magnesium and zinc that help to strengthen your immunity. These seeds are sold with or without the white shells. You can buy any variety and since they occupy less space, it is a perfect snack for traveling.

If it is possible buy the seeds on the day before you travel and rinse them well to remove any trace of pumpkin pulp. Spread the seeds on a sheet and mix them well with sea salt, pepper or other seasonings. Pumpkin seeds, when roasted, do not lose their nutritional value at all.

5. Nuts
Nuts are a great choice for snacks while traveling unless, of course, you are highly sensitive or allergic to nuts. These contain very high protein value and help to maintain a steady level of blood sugar between the meals. The best part is that you can have them while roaming around or sightseeing. Although both the varieties are readily available, it is prudent to choose the unsalted nuts to avoid retention of water during travel.

There is no reason to believe that going on a vacation or a road trip would mean putting on extra calories and pounds by the time you return home. Thanks to the overall awareness, more people are packing healthy snacks in the bags to have them while traveling.
